The Challenge
The goal of this project was to highlight the dedicated volunteers who make BIO Girls’ mission possible. We needed to create a reflective piece that spoke directly to a volunteer’s “10-year-old self,” asking what that younger version of them would have needed at the time. The film served as both a celebration of current efforts and a call to action for women across the region to join the organization as mentors.
Our Approach
To achieve a real, documentary-style feel, we utilized three different cameras and two microphones. Rather than a standard, polished interview setup, we captured the footage in a more “grungy,” authentic way. We purposely chose to show the lighting, microphones, and other production equipment in several angles to emphasize the transparency and reality of the stories being told.
The Result
The final film is a high-impact recruitment and awareness tool that prioritizes emotional honesty. By stripping away the “normal” video polish in favor of a raw documentary aesthetic, we created a piece that resonates deeply with potential mentors and clearly communicates the value of the BIO Girls program
